Hiring a Personal Assistant

So you are ready to hire an employee. You already know what you need. You're ready to become a manager. Do you know the characteristics of the person you want working for you?

This page prepares you for the hiring process. It gives you information you need to work with an agency effectively, if that is your choice. If you decide to hire your own personal assistant, it provides you with detailed information for each step of the process.

Let's begin!

TipThere are good reasons to hire more than one personal assistant. If you hire several people, you can alternate their schedules to allow each PA some time off. If you have only one employee, you must develop a backup system for times when the employee is sick or absent. Sharing the job may reduce burnout and increase the length of time a PA stays with you. Having more than one PA may make changes when an employee leaves a less urgent problem.
