Orientation
Now that you have made your final selection, you will want to set a date for the new personal assistant (PA) to start. The first day includes orientation to the job. It may include a demonstration of your routine by a current PA if that can be arranged. If not, you may want to have a friend or family member with you the first day. You also will want to let family, friends and neighbors know that you will have someone new working with you.
A good orientation sets your new personal assistant (PA) off on the right track from the beginning. This section has three topics:
- Setting Expectations covers general expectations and provides a Mutual Expectations Agreement. It also covers time management: your time and the PA's time and the importance of clear job duties.
- Employee Orientation provides a ten-point plan that guides you through the most important steps of the first day with a new PA.
- Teaching New Tasks gives you a step-by-step process for teaching tasks to a new PA or teaching a new task to your current PAs.
