Assistive technology: Choosing the right tool for the right job

Gamble, M.J., Dowler, D.L., & Orslene, L.E. (2006). Assistive technology: Choosing the right tool for the right job. Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation, 24(2), pp.73-80.

Abstract

Increased access to assistive technology (AT) has provided employment opportunities for many people with disabilities. Barriers to the use of AT in the workplace, including inappropriate selection or application of technology and discontinuance of AT, can prevent successful outcomes. The article reviews the literature on AT in the workplace and presents a model process for systematically identifying and selecting the right AT for an individual's vocational goals and job duties.
